    (Independently published, Feb. 5, 2020)
After The Event- a mass nuclear war, nearly everything was killed. Plants shriveled, animals starved, and the waters dried up. Anyone who managed to survive only did so by murdering and plundering, even eating the flesh of other human beings. Five underground bunkers spread out over what used to be known as the United States of America saved mankind, made it possible for man to live and flourish once again. My name is Rosalind Winters, and I've lived in Bunker Three for my entire life. Here, inside of the bunker walls we are safe, we live in peace. The walls separate us from the deadly Wilds, and everything that manages to survive out there. All of the bunkers form Krateos, our new nation. To prevent chaos and disruption, we are led by the great Council, a body of the elite minds. When I turn eighteen, I will be given an injection to make me better, to give me an ability that will give me a place in Krateos. The Council will choose my career, even choose my spouse if it comes to it. The Council knows best. They are the reason we exist. Nobody questions the Council, bad things happen to those that do. I've learned to never voice my opinions in public, never to think I know better. But when I'm alone, or with only my family, I can't help but wonder, is there more? After Rosalind receives her injection, everything changes. She discovers that the world is not as it seems. She's faced with choices of love and loyalty, and the decisions she makes not only changes her life, but the lives of every single person she's ever cared about. It all comes down to one choice. Survive, or live.

  • On Liberty

    John Stuart Mill, Will Jonson

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Aug. 4, 2014)
‘On Liberty’ is a philosophical work by English philosopher John Stuart Mill. The work applies Mill's ethical system of utilitarianism to society and the state. Mill attempts to establish standards for the relationship between authority and liberty. He emphasizes the importance of individuality which he conceived as a prerequisite to the higher pleasures. Furthermore, Mill criticised the errors of past attempts to defend individuality where, for example, democratic ideals resulted in the "tyranny of the majority". Among the standards established in this work are Mill's three basic liberties of individuals, his three legitimate objections to government intervention, and his two maxims regarding the relationship of the individual to society.

  • On Liberty

    Ashleigh Campi, Lindsay Scorgie-Porter

eBook (Macat Library, July 12, 2017)
In his wonderfully clear and cogent essay On Liberty, Mill contends that individuals should be as free as possible from interference by government. Proposing that individual fulfilment is the surest route to collective happiness, he argues passionately against the "tyranny of the majority," and sets out to create an alternative view of a practical politics that sets proper limits on the powers of government and society. The result, Mill argues, will be not only greater freedom, but also improved social progress. He reached these conclusions by re-interpreting a large body of existing political and philosophical thought – introducing insights drawn from several different schools of thought, and thereby creating an unparalleled defense of classic liberal principals. Much of the clarity of thought that Mill has become celebrated for is the product of his ability to explain meaning, define terms, and highlight problems and issues of definition – making him an exemplar of high quality interpretive thinking.

Dublin has been on a knife-edge since the failed rebellion in July, and Jimmy O'Flaherty suspects a newcomer to The Liberties - Kitty Doyle - is mixed up in it. She accuses him of spying for the English, and he thinks she's a reckless troublemaker. All Jimmy wants is to earn enough coin to buy passage to America. But when the English turn his trading patch into a gallows, Jimmy finds himself drawn into the very conflict he's spent his whole life avoiding. "Liberty Boy is a riveting tale of an overlooked rebellion, told from the perspective of the streets, with gifted dialogue that is more heard than read and unexpected twists that leave you breathless from first page to last." - Cindy Vallar, Historical Novel Society Review.
  • Liberty Lil

    Christine Terpening

    language (, May 2, 2012)
Don't roll your eyes at another book about a school election. I, Liberty Lil, will keep you laughing while glued to your e-reader as I struggle to climb the rickety ladder to political popularity. This story is filled with hilarity, from the first page to the last, as comical embarassments happen to poor, unfortunate me. I, Liberty Lil, am an unpopular, uncoordinated and unlucky sixth grader at Maple Street Elementary who dares (and dreams) what seems to be the impossible-- becoming President of the United States of America. When my irritatingly popular arch-enemy, Bobby Olson, gets wind of my aspirations, he tells me that I can't be President because I'm a girl. Can you believe his nerve? Though I pride myself on having a perfect behaviour record, I respond with impulsive anger (even though he had it coming). I have a hard time keeping my thoughts from exiting my megaphone-mouth, which leads to a not-so-fun visit to the Principals office. Along with my friends, Josey and Scout, I will get the gumption to jump into the sometimes mud-filled pool of politics. Armed with my imaginitive dreams, good friends and even a visit from Abraham Lincoln, I, Liberty Lil, will survive...but will I become class president?
