  • Frank Lloyd Wright Art Glass Coloring Book

    Pomegranate

    Paperback (Pomegranate, May 31, 2009)
Pomegranate's Art Glass coloring book features 14 drawings based on original glass designs by Frank Lloyd Wright. Coloring pages are translucent and blank on the back so they can be cut out and displayed on a window (each 8 1/2 x 11 inches). Each illustration is reproduced in a small, color version of the original artwork and as a full-page black line drawing. The architect and designer Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1867 1959) single-handedly changed how Americans thought about houses, insisting on more light, less clutter, freer movement from room to room, and the honesty of good materials displaying their natural color and texture. Driven by the belief that the places people live and the things they use every day should reflect the surrounding landscape--he called this an 'organic' way of creating new objects--Wright designed many of the furnishings for his famous houses, churches, and commercial buildings. He gave special attention to windows and loved to decorate them with art glass designs. You'll find fourteen translucent images in this coloring book, adapted from Wright's windows and lights. The designs, as adapted, are shown as small pictures inside the front and back covers. You'll notice the many straight lines used to make patterns, which sometimes look like familiar things such as plants and flowers. When you color in a picture, you might want to make something close to the original, or you might decide to use colors that are quite different.

  • maggie and milly and molly and may

    E. E. Cummings, Marcia Perry

    Hardcover (Pomegranate, March 20, 2015)
Hardcover smyth-sewn casebound book, with jacket. 36 pages, fully illustrated. Size: 7 x 7 in.What do four little girls discover when they spend an afternoon by the sea? Maggie, a shell; Milly, a star; Molly, a horrible thing; and May, a smooth round stone. Readers will enjoy the day at the beach for its innate pleasures, but on contemplation may realize that objects encountered by the girls reflect parts of themselves.Marcia Perry s bright, engaging illustrations enhance the poem with her playful and introspective portraits of the characters; her beach setting sings with the ocean tide and the seagulls squawks.About the ARTISTMarcia Perry s art has been featured in galleries, licensed products, and books.
