[LIBRARY EDITION Audiobook CD format in sturdy Vinyl Case with cloth sleeves that keep compact discs protected.] [Read by Robert Whitfield -aka- Simon Vance] For centuries, Christians have been tormented by one question above all: ''If God is good and all-powerful, why does he allow his creatures to suffer pain?'' Is there justice or wisdom to be won by suffering, or some reward beyond understanding? And what of the suffering of animals, which neither deserve pain nor can be improved by it? Is the quantity and variety of suffering in the world inconsistent with, or evidence against, an omnipotent and perfectly loving God? The greatest Christian thinker of all time sets out to disentangle this knotty issue. With his signature wealth of compassion and insight, C. S. Lewis offers answers to these crucial questions and shares his hope and wisdom to help heal a world hungering for a true understanding of human nature, free will, and the will of the Divine.

  • The problem of pain,

    C. S Lewis

Hardcover (G. Bles: and Centenary press, March 15, 1942)
1948. Green boards with white spine text. This lovely hardcover book, missing jacket, is one of a huge collection of interesting Christian books that belonged to one or all of a grandfather, father and son all of whom were California Presbyterian ministers clear back in to the 19th century, they are all long gone now but their well kept and well read books remain, each with a little or sometimes a lot of relevant writing in the margins and some underlining too. NEVER library, very clean, tight binding. Because these old books all are well kept, no smoking around them ever, we rate them good. The reverends were officials in the church, debated the splits of the mid century and were pastors in Southern California. Leaving name out in respect to family, but you will get it, as the book has his name inside the cover. LISTEDBY(KAD)
