    Bram Stoker

Paperback (Prestwick House, Inc., Jan. 1, 2006)
This Prestwick House Literary Touchstone Classics™ edition of Dracula™ includes a glossary and notes to help the modern reader appreciate Stoker'’s allusions, rich vocabulary, and Victorian setting. An apparently routine business venture becomes a battle for a young man'’s very soul. Almost too late, Jonathan Harker realizes that the charismatic and seductive Count Dracula of Transylvania has come to England with a purpose much more sinister than merely to purchase an English estate. Will the Count succeed in his quest to create a race of blood-lusting creatures of the night?Which will prove the stronger —— superstition or science? Defiantly challenging Victorian conventions, Bram Stoker’'s Dracula examines the nature of evil and arrives at the horrific conclusion that the forces which would destroy humanity are not lurking in the shadows of the night, but within the human soul.Modern readers still find that their own nightmares are evoked by Lucy's and Mina's battle against succumbing to the seductive enticements of the soulless vampire.

  • Dracula

    Bram Stoker

    Paperback (Vintage Children's Classics, Oct. 1, 2013)
The daddy of all vampires, the Count who began it allHe is deathly pale. His fingernails are cut to sharp points. His teeth protrude menacingly from his mouth in clouds of rancid breath. Yet even Count Dracula's unnerving appearance and the frightened reaction of the local peasants fail to warn Jonathan Harker, a young man from England, about his host. Little does Jonathan know that this is a land where babies are snatched for their blood and wolves howl menacingly from the forest, where reality is far more frightening than superstition. What's more, it's going to be up to him to stop the world's most bloodthirsty predator.

  • Dracula: By Bram Stoker

    Bram Stoker, James Pyman

Hardcover (Four Corners Books, Feb. 1, 2009)
Truly a Dracula for both art and book lovers, this new edition of the most famous of vampire tales completely overhauls the notion of how a literary classic might be creatively revisited. James Pyman is already famed for his eerily exacting and hallucinatory draftsmanship, as well as for his relish for the exploration of book formats such as cartoon or children's books, and is therefore ideally suited to the illustration of this volume. Herein, Pyman returns to the original text, illustrating a line or phrase from each of the novel's 27 chapters in a series of wonderfully sinister and weirdly clinical pencil drawings. The book, which Bram Stoker composed as a series of diaries, letters and newspaper cuttings, has been typeset by designer John Morgan with a different typeface allocated to each character--each font being based on those in use at the time of the book's original publication. As a final flourish, the striking bright yellow clothbound cover, with its vivid red lettering, is based on that of the first UK edition.

MP3 CD (Audible Studios on Brilliance Audio, June 30, 2015)
Audie Award, Distinguished Achievement in Production, 2013 Audie Award, Multi-voiced Performance, 2013 Audie Award Nominee, Classic, 2013Because of the widespread awareness of the story of the evil Transylvanian count and the success of numerous film adaptations that have been created over the years, the modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure—a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters—with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power. This production of Dracula is presented by what is possibly the best assemblage of narrating talent ever for one audiobook: Emmy Award nominees Alan Cumming and Tim Curry plus an all-star cast of Audie award-winners Simon Vance (The Millenium Trilogy), Katherine Kellgren (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Susan Duerden (The Tiger’s Wife), John Lee (Supergods) and customer favorites Graeme Malcolm (Skippy Dies), Steven Crossley (The Oxford Time Travel series), Simon Prebble (The Baroque Cycle), James Adams (Letters to a Young Contrarian), Nicola Barber (The Rose Garden), Victor Villar-Hauser (Fun Inc.), and Marc Vietor (1Q84). These stellar narrators have been cast as follows:Alan Cumming as Dr. SewardSimon Vance as Jonathan HarkerKaty Kellgren as Mina Murray/HarkerSusan Duerden as Lucy WestenraTim Curry as Van HelsingGraeme Malcolm as Dailygraph correspondentSteven Crossley as Zookeeper’s account and reporterSimon Prebble as VarnaJames Adams as Patrick HennesseyNicola Barber as Sister AgathaVictor Villar-Hauser as Arthur HolmwoodMarc Vietor as Quincey MorrisJohn Lee as Introductory paragraph, various letters

  • Dracula

    Bram Stoker

Mass Market Paperback (Simon & Schuster, Oct. 1, 2003)
A true masterwork of storytelling, Dracula has transcended generation, language, and culture to become one of the most popular novels ever written. It is a quintessential tale of suspense and horror, boasting one of the most terrifying characters ever born in literature: Count Dracula, a tragic, night-dwelling specter who feeds upon the blood of the living, and whose diabolical passions prey upon the innocent, the helpless, and the beautiful. But Dracula also stands as a bleak allegorical saga of an eternally cursed being whose nocturnal atrocities reflect the dark underside of the supremely moralistic age in which it was originally written -- and the corrupt desires that continue to plague the modern human condition. Pocket Books Enriched Classics present the great works of world literature enhanced for the contemporary reader. This edition of Dracula was prepared by Joseph Valente, Professor of English at the University of Illinois and the author of Dracula's Crypt: Bram Stoker, Irishness, and the Question of Blood, who provides insight into the racial connotations of this enduring masterpiece.
