This is the story of a little boy named Almanzo who lived on a big farm. He and his brother went to school as often as they could but each season brought much work to be done on the fam. in spring plowing and sowing of potatoes corn and wheat, summer and fall brought harvesting and in winter threshing and wood hauling took place. time for fun came when the cobbler or the jolly tin peddler visited. the best time of all was the annual country fair.

Like all the Little House books, it tells us in rich details what life was like on the western frontier. The author, Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in the Wisconsin woods in 1867. She wrote the Little House books based on her own experiences growing up on the Western frontier. Just like the characters in her stories, Laura and her family traveled by covered wagon across the Midwest and experienced many of the same adventures. She finally settled down in Mansfield, Missouri with her husband, Almanzo, where she lived until her death in 1957.
