Unabridged (100% Original content) Font adjustments & biography included Illustrated About The Further Adventures Of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe The Further adventures of Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published in 1719. Just as in its significantly more popular predecessor, Robinson Crusoe (1719), the first edition credits the work's fictional protagonist Robinson Crusoe as its author. It was published under the considerably longer original title: The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe; Being the Second and Last Part of His Life, And of the Strange Surprising Accounts of his Travels Round three Parts of the Globe. Although intended to be the last Crusoe tale, the novel is followed by a third and final novel involving the character by Defoe entitled Serious Reflections of Robinson Crusoe (1720). The story is speculated to be partially based on Moscow embassy secretary Adam Brand's journal detailing the embassy's journey from Moscow to Peking from 1693 to 1695.

Robinson Crusoe (1719) by Daniel Defoe is the story of a 17th century Englishman shipwrecked on a desert island and his daily struggles for survival, a steadfast adherence to his Puritan religious ethic, illness and loneliness, cultivation of the land and the creation of a home against all odds including man-eating savages, and eventually the saving and "taming" of one to be "his man Friday" -- culminating in an eventual rescue and return to England. Robinson Crusoe is considered to be one of the earliest novels in the English language, and it remains powerfully compelling for the modern reader. Over the centuries it has spawned a number of imitations, all based on the desert island trope. This one's the original -- a beloved classic for the young and old alike.

“It is never too late to be wise.” --- Daniel Defoe, Robinson Crusoe Robinson Crusoe Daniel DEFOE (c.1660 - 1731) Daniel Defoe’s The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe of York, Mariner (1719) is considered by many the first English novel. Based on the real-life experiences of the castaway Alexander Selkirk, the book has had a perrenial appeal among readers of all ages---especially the young adult reading public---who continue to find inspiration in the inventive resourcefulness of its hero, sole survivor of a shipwreck who is marooned on an uninhabited island. Especially poignant, after more than two decades of unbroken solitude, is the affection that Robinson develops for Friday, another survivor fleeing certain death at the hands of enemy tribesmen from the South American continent.
