The Bremen Town Musicians adapted from the Tale by the Brothers Grimm. The illustrations, all in color, were done by Irma Wilde. The book was published in 1960. The book was made by the National College of Education specialists of early childhood and, like other books made by the organization, is factual, fanciful, humorous, questioning and adventurous.

For one beast of burden here was hope in a career change. He wished to travel to Bremen to become the town musician. Along the way he found three other aging animals that use the wisdom of their collective years to extend their lives and enhance their circumstances.
