    Orson Scott Card

    Library Binding
As one of the most consistently exciting writers to emerge in the last twenty-five years, Orson Scott Card has been honored with numerous awards, immersing readers in dazzling worlds only he could create. Now, in Enchantment, Card works his magic as never before, transforming the timeless story of Sleeping Beauty into an original fantasy brimming with romance and adventure. The moment Ivan stumbled upon a clearing in the dense Carpathian forest, his life was forever changed. Atop a pedestal encircled by fallen leaves, the beautiful princess Katerina lay still as death. But beneath the foliage a malevolent presence stirred and sent the ten-year-old Ivan scrambling for the safety of Cousin Marek's farm. Now, years later, Ivan is an American graduate student, engaged to be married. Yet he cannot forget that long-ago day in the forest--or convince himself it was merely a frightened boy's fantasy. Compelled to return to his native land, Ivan finds the clearing just as he left it.This time he does not run. This time he awakens the beauty with a kiss . . . and steps into a world that vanished a thousand years ago.A rich tapestry of clashing worlds and cultures, Enchantment is a powerfully original novel of a love and destiny that transcend centuries . . . and the dark force that stalks them across the ages.

    Efran Myles

    eBook
Following the return of Princess Elysant after her foiled plans to elope with a young sailor, a message from the Duke of Wessex, her betrothed, called for her presence at an important meeting… a meeting that was to decide the relationship between the kingdoms of Scillei and Wessex. With Elysant’s father being the king of Scillei, they knew there was no choice—Elysant had to go. For this sea voyage, the King appointed his Navy Captain, Barwick, to guard his daughter along the way. For protection, Barwick attempted to strike a deal for faerie magic, but was turned down. Instead, Barwick learned of a deep secret regarding himself… he learned that he is half druid. On a voyage to the land of Albion, where the use of magic is outlawed, Barwick is faced with a difficult decision. He can either choose to stay human and continue living comfortably, or he can permanently awaken his magical abilities to protect the princess, which will ultimately turn him into an outcast. The days of childhood flash through his mind and he remembers how the sunshine would flow around and within the strands of her hair. Then later, his breaking heart—now a bleeding, but still beating heart. “Ellie,” he thought to himself. It was a painful unrequited love, a difficult decision, and an inevitable sacrifice.---------The children sat enraptured as the story unfolded. As it turns out, this story is not as make-believe as they thought. In fact, this story and the children share a deep connection…A "vocabulary builder" title for young adults. An enjoyable, clean medieval fantasy for everyone else.
  • Land of Enchantment

    April Dawn Duncan

eBook (First Edition Design Publishing, Sept. 29, 2014)
Moving is never easy. Especially when you are about to turn thirteen, forced to leave a lush paradise for a barren wasteland and afflicted by a know-it-all-smart-aleck for a brother. With an old lady for her new neighbor and parents who think looking at rocks is fun, Micay has only her geeky brother to console her. At least he understood that beach bunnies were not meant to be desert rats.Though she is determined to remain miserable in her new life, little does she know that her neighbor is more than meets the eye and will set her on a grand and ancient adventure that challenges all her preconceived ideas. Land of Enchantment is a fresh take on an old adage, don't judge a book by its cover, and showcases the little known grandeur of the truly enchanting state of New Mexico (yes, it really is a part of the United States).About the author – Every choice we make changes our story and the stories of countless others interconnected with us. That fascinates me, and it drives me to ask, what if? That ever fluctuating potential of possibility is my Muse, and writing is my mode of exploration. Delving into the mystery of what if and putting it into words is what I want to do for the rest of my life. The hobbies and activities I enjoy reflect my philosophy of writing. I explore, I adventure and I discover. I practice Wushu, a graceful and acrobatic martial art that is always a challenge. I rock climb to keep my body and spirit strong. I am happiest traveling and discovering new places of beauty. I love being in nature and communing with it, so hiking and camping are regular activities for me. I also enjoy relaxing and reading a good book or watching a good movie. I can often be found at a board game night reveling in the company of loved ones.I truly believe that we should pursue our dreams with dogged determination. Yes, we may have to slave away at thankless jobs to do it, but if we never give up, we can achieve them. After 5 years of dealing with chronic health problems (which are now thankfully resolved) and writing and traveling for research whenever I could, I am now finally able to present my debut novel, Land of Enchantment. I have a BA in Communicative Arts with a focus on English Literature and a minor in History. I've taught both middle school Language Arts and high school English Literature. I took and graduated from the Children's Literature course at the Institute of Children's Literature and was invited back to take the advanced course which I have since graduated from also. Land of Enchantment is the novel I chose to write as my project for the advanced course, so now I'm honored to be able to publish it. Lastly I have worked as a professional editor for a small publishing company as well as for individual authors. In the near future, I hope my career will consist of writing about what I love. Keywords: Tween, Adventure, Archaeology, Mystery, Discovery, Imagination, History, Artifacts, Moving, Self-Discovery

    Neville Dawes

Paperback (Peepal Tree Press Ltd., May 1, 2009)
Newly available after 40 years, this partly autobiographical love affair with the Jamaican language and landscape gives a penetrating look at the racial politics of the 1950s and 1960s and the search for self in a world divided by class. Ramsay Tull is witness to the black racial discontents and the desire for national independence that are threatening the old colonial order; but when a chance comes to study at Oxford University, he becomes immersed in European literary culture and Marxism. On his return to Jamaica, Ramsay becomes actively involved in radical nationalist politics and begins his second journey, away from his middle-class origins and back to a true appreciation of the Jamaican people.
  • A Phantom Enchantment

    Eve Marie Mont

In this brilliant, multi-layered conclusion to the Unbound trilogy, Emma Townsend journeys to Paris and discovers her own choices echoed within the labyrinthine love story The Phantom of the Opera. . .Senior year in Paris means dazzling architecture, gorgeous cafés, and a hefty workload. Her foreboding only increases as she reads Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera and becomes lost in the gothic masterpiece. When Gray goes missing during a rescue at sea, Emma refuses to believe the worst. In her strange waking dreams, Gray is very much alive, drawing Emma into a mysterious otherworld beyond her mirror.
