  • Angel of Mine

    Sara Taksali, Lily Schultz

    Paperback (Bowker, Oct. 9, 2019)
100% of the proceeds will be donated to Victory Academy and Live Like Noah Foundation. Victory Academy (victoryacademy.org) is a year-round private school serving children affected by autism. Victory is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3), accredited through AdvancEd. Live Like Noah Foundation (livelikenoah.org) advocates for Congenital Heart Disease and supports families affected by its challenges. Angel of Mine follows an energetic toddler as he goes through his day, from waking up, to playing, to napping, to asking lots of questions, and finally going to sleep at night. It highlights the contrast between his seemingly endless energy when awake and his angelic peacefulness while sleeping. A Note from the Author: Angel of Mine was inspired by my son, Shalin. I was always amazed by the sharp contrast between his seemingly endless energy when awake and his angelic peacefulness while sleeping. This book is an attempt to capture that sweet contrast. I wrote Angel of Mine while Shalin was attending Victory Academy. The idea for the book first came to me in a dream as a tune, to which I then added words to create a song. Magen Dignan, the music therapist at Victory, and Michael Allard, one of the many amazing teachers at Victory, took the tune and lyrics and transformed it into a beautiful lullaby. Angel of Mine was illustrated by Lily Schultz, a high-school student at Victory Academy, making it a collaboration of many wonderful talents at the school.
