Excerpt from SebastianDavid slept badly. For this, the winter cough, that had irritated his wife's sensitiveness even in the first year of their marriage, was probably responsible. Va nessa always asserted that he was asthmatic, and certainly he was short of breath. Although he was habitually an insomniac, to-night he had woken with a start, suddenly, as if from some external cause. He lay still for a few moments, his heart beating quickly, his pulses throbbing. What had startled him, how had he been roused? He opened his eyes. Darkness was in the room, and quiet. He occupied the back room on the second floor; the blinds were drawn, the outlook was on to the mews. Perhaps Dr. Gifford's brougham, unusually late, had driven its noisy way over the cobbled stones. But in that case he would hear the clink of harness, the rattle of unsteady hoofs, voices in the yard. He listened, but outside all was still. The big Harley Street house had been built in the Georgian era, the walls were thick, and it was silence they seemed to hold. Black night alone filled the room, and stillness. He shrank a little from both, lying there, hearing his own heart-beats, hearing nothing else, at first.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Sebastian

    Vanessa Julian-Ottie

Paperback (Egmont Childrens Books, Nov. 1, 1990)
Sebastian is an extremely curious little kitten who takes the first opportunity to slip out and explore the garden and beyond. The author tells the story with cut-outs which allow the child to see the world through Sebastian's eyes.
  • Sebastian Seagull

    Mrs Marilyn L Caladine

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, April 22, 2016)
Close your eyes for just a moment and imagine a small fishing village, where the tiny cottages tumble down the hill to the sea. Can you see the seagulls flying and swooping in between the roof tops? Their shrill cries to each other echoing around the tiny cottages. Lovely, isn't it? but not in Robin Hood's Bay. This story is a twisted tale of danger, ghost ships, pirates from the past, evil Goth Gulls and the Robin Hood's Bay gulls, who think they are humans and not seagulls. So, come walk with me down the cobbled pathways, passed the smugglers cottages and down to the Bay, where the sea is wild and stormy. Let's head for the beach, but be sure, if you see a gold coin lying in the sand, DON'T PICK IT UP, unless you want to slip into a time warp and run the risk of being captured and kept on a ghost ship for ever!
