With all her heart, Charity prays that her father will take them with him on his next voyage and away from the wicked Mrs. Trask, the inn-keeper, who had taken the girls into her care by making them work for their keep in the kitchen.

But, was she really in love with him or was it just the magic of the islands? Along the way, she learns Hawaiian history and helps Chantel to re-unite her parents.

Together they enter a tennis competition and have to deal with twin girls who are obviously cheating. Knowing it is one thing, proving it is another but through the idea of coded messages and other means of communication from a deaf girl who reads lips, and with Billy's help, they are able to prove their point.
