Part-documentary, part-poetic portrait, The Sea offers a range of educational views on everything from storm warnings to seabird species to the art of tying sailor knots. Traditional fishing is observed, as well as lesser-known industries such as fish-farming, oyster-farming and salt-farming. Also interwoven into the text are ecological issues addressing how man has soiled the sea with pollution and waste, so there is an environmentally conscious message as well.
