Cornwall 1917. Brother and sister – Edward and Amelia – travel to stay with their sick mother’s uncle and aunt (Tobias and Florence) in their remote house set on a bleak headland. The youngsters’ father is away at war.Tobias proves to be a strange and morose character. His sister Florence is jollier.. Jollier still is Mrs Day – Rosie, the housekeeper – “…Rosie Day, that’s me.
