Steve, Paul, and Joe are good friends always looking for an outdoor adventure and living in the great state of Maine that was easy to find. Steve has a week off from work so he decides to plan a hike with his buddies. With Joe taking a year off from college and Paul still living at his moms with no job it wasn't hard to convince them.This time they planned on hiking Mount Katahdin the largest mountain in Maine The drive itself takes a day with plenty of beautiful views of mountains, water, and wildlife. After a couple night's of camping and drinking the three are ready for the big hike. When they reach the top of the mountain to cross the Knifes Edge Joe's fear of heights kicked in and he decides to to turn back. The Knifes Edge definitely lives up to it's name having a narrow path crossing from one peak to another with very steep grades on both sides. This is the turning point for most hikers with an easy stomach. Paul and Steve are determined for success so they kept on moving while Joe headed back. When Paul and Steve get back to there site to meet there friend Joe he is nowhere to be found. They searched around and found nothing not even a sign that he had returned. The two waited for hours thinking he may have just went for another hike but still nothing. With the sky now dark and no time to search they meet with the park ranger to inform him of there missing friend. The ranger told them to wait till morning and we will go from there. As the next day rolls around there is still no sign of Joe and now every one is starting to worry even the ranger. The ranger decides its time to search so he gets a hold of the wardens service for there help. After the wardens searched most of the day with a helicopter still no luck. With hope dwindling and another day gone by it don't look good for Joe.
