    Harry Collingwood

    Paperback (Aegypan, March 1, 2009)
Buried Treasure! They were tough times, those years, but there was a story in his family -- they'd been telling it for generations -- that centuries ago, an ancestor of Captain Saint Leger's had found a shipwreck laden with a huge hoard of gold and jewels. He'd buried it, so the story went, in a secret location on an island in the Far East. Young Captain Saint Leger -- broke as he is -- sets out to find the treasure. It's not as easy as it sounds: he gets attacked by pirates, and of course the voyage itself is long and fretful. . . . but they get there, puzzle out the directions his ancestor encrypted, find the treasure -- and then the crew turns on him, intending to steal the treasure!

  • Two Gallant Sons of Devon A Tale of the Days of Queen Bess

    Harry Collingwood

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, June 29, 2018)
Two Gallant Sons of Devon A Tale of the Days of Queen Bess by Harry Collingwood How Phil Stukely and Dick Chichester narrowly escaped drowning. It was a little after seven o’clock on June 19 in the year of Our Lord 1577, and business was practically over for the day. The taverns and alehouses were, of course, still open, and would so remain for three or four hours to come, for the evening was then, as it is now, their most busy time; but nearly all the shops in Fore Street of the good town of Devonport were closed, one of the few exceptions being that of Master John Summers, “Apothecary, and Dealer in all sorts of Herbs and Simples”, as was announced by the sign which swung over the still open door of the little, low-browed establishment. • The Pirate Island A Story of the South Pacific: Large Print

    Harry Collingwood

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Aug. 16, 2018)
The Pirate Island A Story of the South Pacific: Large Print By Harry Collingwood The Wreck on the “Gunfleet.” It was emphatically “a dirty night.” The barometer had been slowly but persistently falling during the two previous days; the dawn had been red and threatening, with a strong breeze from S.E.; and as the short dreary November day waxed and waned this strong breeze had steadily increased in strength until by nightfall it had become a regular “November gale,” with frequent squalls of arrowy rain and sleet, which, impelled by the furious gusts, smote and stung like hail, and cleared the streets almost as effectually as a volley of musketry would have done. It was not fit for a dog to be out of doors. So said Ned Anger as he entered the snug bar-parlour of the “Anchor” at Brightlingsea, and drawing a chair close up to the blazing fire of wreck-wood which roared up the ample chimney, flung himself heavily down thereon to await the arrival of the “pint” which he had ordered as he passed the bar. “And yet there’s a many poor souls as has to be out in it, and as is out in it,” returned the buxom hostess, entering at the moment with the aforesaid pint upon a small tray. “It’s to be hoped as none of ’em won’t meet their deaths out there among the sands this fearful night,” she added, as Ned took the glass from her, and deposited his “tuppence” in the tray in payment therefor.
