Billy Jones is a fairly normal eleven year old boy with a fertile imagination and a healthy appetite for adventure. He happens quite by chance it seems upon an old yet well preserved building in the countryside which appears to be a toy shop of some sort. Upon entering though, he soon realises that – whilst appearing to entertain many of the normal features of such an establishment – its contents and appearance harbour many more mysteries and secrets than anything Billy has ever encountered anywhere else in his young life. The store appears to be run by an old shop keeper who barely speaks but appears as a genial character to Billy and the two gradually develop a bond. Their relationship strengthens as Billy experiences more of the magical creations the old man’s shop has to offer, some of which give him an insight into his and his family’s past. The shop and its contents share even more mystery than Billy can initially imagine though; and at no point is he sure of how the journey through its aisles will ultimately end.
A cow loses her favourite item of footwear, a bear discovers that bananas are not the only food and a fox helps a mouse in trouble. What do these three stories have in common? They prove that friends matter more than anything.
