I was taught a song about promises when I was six years old. I still can sing it today. “Every promise in the book is mine— every chapter, every verse, every line— and I’m standing on his word so divine— every promise in the book is mine.”As a kid, I sang this little chorus often and I believed the words. However, the only promise that I knew was John 3:16. Kids have a great capacity to learn and a great capacity to believe. My purpose for the creation of this book is to inform kids that there are many promises in the Book and that every promise can be theirs. When my granddaughter was three, she began experiencing severe seizures. Fear came in the same “package” with the seizures. Even after the seizures ceased to occur, Emmaus would wake up in the night in the grip of fear. My daughter-in-law created a three-by-five booklet with a few promises that dealt specifically with the fear. Emmaus could not read; however, she was taught the promise that was illustrated by a picture in the booklet. If she was awakened by the fear, she would simply reach for the booklet and find God’s promise. In her mind, the promises of God became stronger than the fear, thus instilling peace in her mind and heart. This book is designed so that parents and grandparents can use this book of promises to interact with their kids and grandkids in a unique manner.
