Spin! is the third of a trilogy of plays based on the classic fairy stories from the Brothers Grimm collection. Written to be read aloud and acted out it tells the tale of the Rumpelstiltskin through drama and verse, and includes background notes on the story so that teachers and parents can help children understand its messages. The first title to be published was Piper! based on The Pied Piper of Hamelin The second title to be published was Chorus! based on The Musicians of Bremen.. SPIN! is based on the Grimm's Fairy Tale: "Rumpelstiltskin". It shows how greed and pride can lead people into danger. The story follows the adventures of its two principal characters: Gilda the Miller's daughter who dreams of being a princess; and the Troll who wants to lead his people out of the caves for a better life. This classroom play is full of humour and morality and is told through verse and prose and chant. It will offer 9 -12 year olds an opportunity to develop dramatic and storytelling skills. It also offers parents opportunities for dramatic reading with their children.
