  • Christ Our Saviour

    Mrs. E. G. White

    language (, Jan. 22, 2015)
Some 115 original illustrations, 29 full page. Not a photocopy, but text all reset in easy-to read font, and illustrations improved. Adapted in the 1890s for children and new Christians from E. G. White material, but a blessing for all levels of believers. Excellent introduction to the gospel as revealed in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Preface: THE story of the earthly life of Christ our Saviour is written without words on every feature of nature, in every phase of human experience, in every fact of life. We can never fully realize how deep is the impression, how widespread is the influence, of the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Every blessing of every kind comes to us through that connection between Heaven and earth which was formed when the Lord of glory espoused the cause of a world lost in sin. The infinite pathos of that story has inspired the pen of the learned and the tongue of the eloquent. But it is best told in childlike language. The wonderful spectacle needs no human coloring. Its glory surpasses the art of men. It shines brightest in its own luster. In these pages no effort is made toward artificial embellishment. The plain story, as told by one who is moved by a deep sense of the infinite proportions of the subject, has been put into the language of the young. In its simplicity not only does it speak to the hearts of the young, but it meets the desire expressed by us all in the familiar song— “Tell me the story simply, as to a little child.” May it be received in the same simplicity and purity of faith. † Chapter Titles The Birth of Jesus Jesus Presented in the Temple The Visit of the Wise Men The Flight Into Egypt Child-Life of Jesus Days of Conflict The Baptism The Temptation Early Ministry Teachings of Christ Sabbath-Keeping The Good Shepherd Riding Into Jerusalem “Take These Things Hence” At the Passover Supper In Gethsemane The Betrayal and Arrest Before Annas, Caiaphas, and the Sanhedrim Judas Before Pilate Before Herod Condemned by Pilate Calvary Death of Christ In Joseph’s Tomb “He Is Risen” Go Tell My Disciples Witnesses The Ascension Coming Again A Day of Judgment The Home of the Saved

Paperback (Forgotten Books, July 4, 2012)
Preface. HE story of the earthly life of Christ our Saviour is written without words in ten thousand forms on every feature of nature, in every phase of human experience, in every fact of life. We never can fully realize how deep is the impression, how widespread is the influence of the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Every blessing of every kind comes to us through that connection between heaven and earth which was formed when the Lord of glory espoused the cause of a world lost in sin. The infinite pathos of that story has inspired the pen of the learned and the tongue of the eloquent. But it is best told in child-like language. The wonderful spectacle needs no human coloring. I ts glory surpasses the art of men. It shines brightest in its own luster. In these pages no effort is made toward artificial embellishment. The plain story is simply told by a pen that is moved with a deep sense of the infinite proportions of the subject. The pen is controlled by a reverence for the sacred theme that preserves it unmarred by human suggestions, thus forming an appropriate sequel to the angelic announcement, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to men. We are wont to sing in the familiar song Tell me the story simply, as to a little child. The author has done this, and purity of faith. May it be received in the same simplicity G. c.
