A grumbly old bear takes a fancy to a little pink baby, and the two of them have a party over a pot of honey in the deep dark forest. When the frantic Mommy and Daddy come with all the woodsmen to hunt for the baby, they find the bear and the baby together, very sticky, but having a wonderful time - and ever after Mommy called the baby "Honey," and when the story got around, all the mothers everywhere called their babies "Honey," and that is how this term of endearment originated. This is truly a children's classic, for it has a charm which appeals to older readers as well as to children. The exquisite pictures were done by one of America's best known modern illustrators, and the verse is cleverly designed for a grown-up to read to the young listener on his knee.
