A 'Sword and Sorcery' fantasy tale set in medieval Japan. The Keepers guard the Portals which are gateways between various worlds of the multiverse. Evil beings of power would cross between the worlds to dominate creatures who are ignorant of the danger the Keepers protect them from. In this second book of the trilogy, we meet Ho-tem, a forest dwelling lad struggling to match his great father's expectations for him as the Keeper in his world. His struggles take him to other worlds where he meets the Japanese girl Keeper, Mariko, and her guardian, the fisherman's son from her village who has had the powers of the Silver Samurai bestowed on him to help him protect and defend Mariko. Together these young people form an alliance to challenge the evil wizard, T'fang whose lust for power will tolerate no opposition and who has sworn the destroy Mariko and all who protect and aide her.
