This children's book describes a conversation between a little boy named DJ and his mom. DJ really wants a pet, and he's decided that a fish will be the perfect first pet. But before he can tell his mother this, she begins to explain all the things he'll have to do to take care of his pet. Since his mother is picturing a dog, most of the things-going to the bathroom outside, brushing the pet, and wearing a collar-are funny when DJ imagines doing them with a fish. At the end, when DJ makes it clear he's thinking of a fish, his mother is shocked; but by that point, DJ no longer wants a pet.
