This is the first book in a series about Jack and Dobbie, two Chihuahuas, who became "brothers" by adoption. The series begins at the point where Dobbie, who was previously abused, is adopted through a local animal rescue group as a playmate for Jack. The events are true and most of the pictures were drawn from actual photographs. The book is intended to be read as a pleasant bedtime story of about six minutes in length, or a book that beginning readers can enjoy by themselves. It is a story about love in the lives of two little dogs.

This is the second book in a series about two Chihuahuas, Jack and Dobbie. The first book The Beginning describes how Dobbie came to be adopted through an animal rescue group as a playmate for Jack. The book describes Dobbie's past abuse and the difficulty of adjusting to his new home. The second book Happy Tails details events that nearly ended in disaster as well as more light-hearted moments of interaction with Jack. As their story continues in book three, Doggie Holidays, children will learn how the dogs celebrate their birthdays and other holidays.
