  • The Hawthorns

    Amy Walton

    Paperback (Blurb, Oct. 3, 2019)
Quite close to the nursery window at Easney Vicarage there grew a very old pear-tree. It was so old that the ivy had had time to hug its trunk with strong rough arms, and even to stretch them out nearly to the top, and hang dark green wreaths on every bough. Some day, the children had been told, this would choke the life out of the tree and kill it; that would be a pity, but there seemed no danger of it yet, for every spring the pear-tree still showed its head crowned with white blossoms, and every summer the pears grew yellow and juicy, and fell with a soft "splosh!" on the gravel path beneath. It was interesting to watch that, and it happened so often, that it was hard to imagine a windsor pear without a great gash where the sharp stones had cut into it; it was also natural to expect when you picked it up that there would be a cunning yellow wasp hidden somewhere about it, for all the little Hawthorns had always found it so except the baby, and she was too small to have any experience.

About the Book Like College Guides, Graduate School Guides are books or on-line services that provide information about graduate programs at various universities to prospective students. In addition to providing basic information about the institutions and fee structures, such guides may provide student feedback on their experiences of life and study at their institution. Also in this Book Poetry anthologies with multiple authors are collections of poems of a number of poets that have been gathered by a compiler, and published in a single volume, or series of volumes. These anthologies are rarely random, and more likely to be themed in the manner of "Best American Poetry" and the like. And in this Book “Children with special needs” is a term used to describe children who require assistance for disabilities that may be medical, mental, or psychological. The range of special needs is wide, and can refer to children with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, dyslexia, blindness, ADHD, and cystic fibrosis. In addition, these children could be subject to cleft lips and/or palates, port-wine stains, and missing limbs.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
