PIERRE BENOIT, Jacob Young, MARY C. TONGUE AND MARY ROSS

    eBook (, July 4, 2012)
Atlantida (L’Atlantide) by Pierre BenoitThis French novel of 'Atlantis in the Sahara' made a huge splash when it was published. The exotic Saharan setting, the stories of desert survival, the overpowering allure of the last Queen of Atlantis, make a memorable, if a bit pulpy, read. Over a dozen films have been made of this plot, to the point where it is almost a subgenre of the lost-civilization adventure film in itself. The author was sued (and lost) at one point because the plot is fairly close to that of Haggard's She. However, it is thought Benoit had no exposure to Haggard prior writing L'Antlantide, so this appears to be a case of literary convergent evolution. This edition is based on 1920 edition of this translation of the book. **This kindle edition is special to include the beautiful Atlantis pictures for the reader to more enjoy reading.**Each chapter has the linkage for easy navigation.
  • Atlantida, Special Illustrated & Movie Memorabilia Edition

    Pierre Benoit

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, April 13, 2015)
Armchair fiction presents extra large paperback editions of the best in classic science fiction novels. “Atlantida” is a classic early science fiction tale by Pierre Benoit and is the first volume in Armchair’s “Lost World-Lost Race Classics” series. This special illustrated edition comes complete with interior illustrations, an “Atlantida” literature gallery, and a “Movie Memorabilia” gallery. “Atlantida” tells the story of the man who found Atlantis. The legends of Atlantis have been around for centuries. Did the fabled lost continent really sink forever beneath the mighty ocean waves with its wonders and its mysteries—or was it still out there somewhere, still in existence, waiting for its lucky rediscovery by some diligent ocean explorer and his crew? This was the perplexing problem that possessed Captain de Saint-Avit when he first encountered certain inscriptions that hinted strongly at the latter possibility. To rediscover Atlantis! This was a lofty goal that many had dreamed about but none had achieved. Was it then to be his lot to come at last to its fabled gates? The bigger question of course was what might lie beyond those gates. “Atlantida” by Pierre Benoit is a thrilling classic of scientific conjecture and astounding adventure.
