Money can be a touchy subject. If we have a lot of it, we often don’t feel comfortable talking about it, as we don’t want to come across as boastful. If we don’t have much, we likewise don’t want to discuss it as many people consider money to be one of the main measuring sticks of worth. We’re afraid of being judged, we’re afraid of what other people are going to think. Often, only when our finances are in dire straits do we really begin to question what money is and what we can do to change our relationship with it. More than likely, you have picked up this book because you want to be better with money, or you want to have more money, or you’d just like to develop your understanding of how money affects your life. The idea of a money story and money being infinite may be foreign to you. You may wish to cultivate a relationship with money that is free of stress and allows you to live a fulfilling, peaceful life. These are all things we will cover in the following pages. I have worked with many clients over the years who have had all sorts of money troubles. Sometimes these troubles are new, brought on by student loans or a mortgage on a house. Other times, these problems stem from childhood. Regardless, all of my clients have had one theme in common: They want to heal their money story and learn how to be prosperous. I’ve included some of their stories, because I know how immensely helpful it can be to know that you are not alone, you are not the only one who has gone through something like this. It is also incredibly encouraging to know that others have struggled with things similar to you yet have been able to overcome it. You are no different. You won’t need much as you read this book. An open mind is good. As is a blank journal that you can dedicate to the thoughts, feelings, and questions that come up as you work through these pages. Because some of the topics we’ll be covering might bring up painful or very personal memories or feelings, treat this journal as you would a diary, and know that no one else but you ever has to read what’s between the covers. Having that knowledge at the foundation of the work you’re doing here will give you the freedom to write whatever it is that comes to mind and not censor yourself. Being honest and forthcoming with how you feel is vital to coming to a place of understanding and prosperity. Only when we are able to comprehend our true feelings and intentions about something are we able to move forward and make the proactive changes for a better, more harmonious life. This book will serve as a gentle guide to assist you in getting there so you may live the best life possible.
