An industrious gnome. A human-raised orc. A halfling mafia boss looking to sell protection.Gappy Whirligig is an industrious gnome who has yet to reach the Age of Tinkering. He's 42. All he wants to do is build a flying contraption. Unfortunately, building such a device requires a fuel source that may make him explode, and the gnome town of Hubintegler has strict rules against inhabitants blowing themselves up prior to the age of 50. But when Gappy finds himself suddenly alone in the world, he decides to leave Hubintegler's rules and regulations behind as he seeks to make his mark in the seedy city of Planoontik...Now he must find a place to set up shop, manage governmental bureaucracy, use the Rent-A-Friend service, and wrestle with the local halfling mafia (known as the Halfia) as they incessantly try to destroy his business. On top of that, Gappy ends up hiring an oversized orc who has a fierce appetite for pizza, and that ain't cheap. Even worse, Gappy has fallen for a beautiful—but ruthless—owner of a competing engineering firm, and she has a strong reputation for crushing her competitors...Gappy's Gadgets is the heartwarming fourth book in the Ononokin comedic fantasy series. If you enjoy fun characters, satirical fantasy worlds, and seeing standard tropes turned upside down, then you’ll love John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young’s humorous fantasy adventure. Running an engineering business is tough, especially when you have to deal with the Halfling mafia!Gappy Whirligig is an industrious Gnome who has yet to reach the Age of Tinkering. He's 42. But, as anyone who lives in the Gnome town of Hubintegler can tell you, things have a way of exploding when least expected. In a flash, Gappy's life flips upside down, leaving him to make the decision to either strike out on his own or become a 42-year-old foster child. Gappy leaves Hubintegler's rules and regulations behind as he seeks to make his mark in the seedy town of Planoontik. His plan is to set up a shop that will fund his ability to build a flying machine he's calling a "Whirligig," but Planoontik is turning out to be a harsh mistress (not that kind) and Gappy has a limited budget to literally get things off the ground. Along with his assistant, an Orc by the name of Shrit, Gappy fights through the red tape of starting and running a business, deals with the local Halfia (the Halfling Mafia), and battles the only competition in town. The worst part is that his only competitor is a fellow Gnome. And she's not only conniving, cold, and ruthless... she's also dreamy. Fans of Monty Python and Discworld will find a grand new playground in the Tales From the Land of Ononokin series. INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR: Q: What makes the Tales From the Land of Ononokin series special? A: I had just finished watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy and was thinking how much fun it would be to create a fantasy world of my own that brought in a very strange mix of our present-day cultures and those of the Middle Ages. I also wanted to alter the myths regarding standard fantasy races around a bit. I essentially turn normal fantasy on its head wherever possible, and it makes each book a laugh-out-loud blast. Q: What order should the books be read in? A: Here is the suggested order:A Quest of UndoingThe Full Moon EventBob the ZombieGappy's GadgetsThe Kidnapped PrinceNote that you can also snag The Fate Quest, a FREE novella, from my website!
