The Dark at the Top of the Stairs
William Inge
Mass Market Paperback

1920 Oklahoma. Ruben Floor loses his job and has to deal with the pain of that while dealing with a sexually troubled wife, a shy inhibited daughter, and a son uncertain of his father's love. Family dynamics, love and appreciation in marriage and out are presented by William Inge in his play, Dark at the Top of the Stairs. Reworked from an earlier work, this is his most successful play and is felt to be the most autobiographical.
