For Bix Rivers, nothing is more important than the truth. His father is dead, his mother is in a mental hospital , and his stepfather ignores him. A devotion to truth is all he has left. When Black basketball standout Jerome Foxworthy is chosen to integrate Bix's all-white junior high school, the two outcasts for a strong friendship and Jerome teaches Bix the fundamentals of shooting hoops.
