Stirling CHE VALIER-D'IND US TRIE. 191 Crawfurd's b. c. Zuyder Zee (winner, this year, of the Houghton Handicap at Newmarket), by Orlando, 8st 1olbs (G. Oates), by four lengths, ch. f. Mcestissima, 8st 2lbs (Kendall), third, Lord Glasgow's unnamed colt by The Dutchman, 8st 7lbs (Aldcroft), fourth, and Sir J. B. Mill's b. f. Bar-One by Orlando, 8st'albs (A. Day), last; 6 to 4 against The Chevalier, 5 to 2 against Zuyder Zee, and 6 to 1 against Mcestissima, all three years old. S. mg., 8st 7lbs (Fordham), in the Bentinck Memorial Stakes, of 296, was beaten, twenty lengths, by Mr. I'Anson's b. f. Blink Bonny, by Melbourne, out of Queen Mary, three years, 8st 3lbs (Charlton): only these two ran; 6 to 1 on Blink Bonny. At Brighton, w. o. for the Cup.. At Hereford, 7st 7lbs (Fordham), ran third for the Royal Plate, of 300 sovs., won by br. c. Fisherman (now Captain Starky's), four years, 9st 1 lb (Wells), beating Lord De Mauley's br. c. Cotswold by Newcourt (son of Sir Hercules), four years, 8st 1lb (Wakefield), by a neck, and Lord Clifton's ch. f. Melissa by Surplice, four years, 8st 6lbs, last; 7 to 2 on Fisherman. This was the Chevalier's last race. At the sale of Mr. Greville's yearlings, in 1855, Chevalierd'Industrie was knocked down to Mr. Padwick (who ran his horses under the name of Howard), for 255 gs.
