Library Binding (Raintree, Aug. 1, 2002)
Friday, November 22, 1963, is a day that most people over the age of 50 will never forget. Where they were and what they were doing is etched into their memories, because that was the day John F. Kennedy was killed. For all generations, the assassination of this youthful and handsome American president remains a mystery. Why did it happen? Who did it? Piecing together the information and looking at the photographs and film from that terrible day cannot answer all the questions, but we can get closer to understanding the events-- and thus consider their historical impact.

  • Days That Shook the World: the Kennedy Assassination

    Liz Gogerly

Paperback (Hodder & Stoughton Childrens Division, Feb. 13, 2003)
This title explores the background and the aftermath of the assassination of Kennedy, using this single event as a window on to a broader perspective of twentieth century history. It looks at Kennedy's impact as a US president through crucial events in history such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, building up to the climatic assassination itself. It then explores how and why Kennedy was assassinated and tantalizingly asks 'What if it hadn't happened?' Throughout the book 'moment in time' panels which use quotes and primary sources give the reader an impression of what it must have been like to be there. The final part of the book examines the legacy of the 'day that shook the world' in terms of its impact on history.
