Bullying, anorexia, dyslexia, cruel gossip, obesity, being 'perfect,' speech impediments, fears---but also friendship, recreation, homework, kindness, roller-coasters. These 36 essays were individually written by 8th grade students from Crossett Brook Middle School, Vermont. Every student from the Titan Team wrote in their own words, sharing their voice with others, school-related fears, challenges, and problem solving. This collection is valuable to both educators and students in the following ways: to show students they are not alone as they travel through this stage of their lives; to help students overcome challenges they face each day; teachers may use the essays and appendices to teach the 'personal essay;' classrooms can use these essays to critique together, make them even better; utilize the appendices resources for building better student life, as well as for suggestions for writing better. Our Mission Statement: "Dedicated to making public those essays written by 8th grade students which are meritorious, thoughtful, and deserving of peer review." Class of 2010, Titan Team, CBMS
