Excerpt from Children's Catalog of Thirty-Five Hundred Books: A Guide to the Best Reading for Boys and GirlsLike the first edition, this new Catalog is based on carefully selected library lists of best books, in the belief that a selection based on the cumulated judgment of experienced librarians has' a value beyond that of any single list based on the judgment of one person, however wise. The 1909 Catalog was based on 24 selected lists. For the second edition of the Catalog, published 1916-1917, in addition to these, the A. L. A. Catalog Supplement of 1911, the A. L. A. Booklist and some 28 other library bulletins and juvenile lists were clipped and mounted as a further basis of selection. Copies of all notes made on current juvenile books. During the past year and a half have also been received from the New York State Library, as well as a number of valuable notes from the Cleveland Public Library.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
