The Misty Meadows books first began with the neighbour’s cat, Bob’s dog, Leo, and his first granddaughter, Rachel. Additional stories were added over the years as more and more animals came to the family farm. “I’m so glad I can continue to share with my own children the timeless truths and lessons of the stories I loved as a child.”—Rachel Freeman (granddaughter)“There is excitement and awe when children see wildlife. We hear the hoots and hollers when a deer, coyote, rabbit, fox, or raccoon runs across their path. One of the joys of living in rural Ontario is observing these animals and discovering their beautiful habitats. Bob Lewis has lived his whole life surrounded with this beauty and wildlife. He has brought his lifetime of imagination to make the stories of Misty Meadows alive…with loveable characters and value-based lessons.” —Melodie Bissell, author and CEO of Winning Kids Inc.Robert (Bob) E. Lewis was born in Stouffville, Ontario, on February 10, 1929. A few days later he moved to the Lewis family farm in Altona, a small rural community four miles east of Stouffville. Eighty-five years later he is still living on the farm, lovingly called Misty Meadows.“What a privilege it was for me to have my grandparents living with us. I would sit on my grandfather’s knee, which was my favourite seat in the house, and hear his stories.” His favourite book was a book of poems, all about rabbits. Today, Bob can repeat them word for word. It was in this house that Bob and his wife raised their children and many foster children. Every night the family ritual was nighttime treats, stories and prayers…in that order.
