This instrument is but little known in Amer ica, although it must some day come into favor in this country, as it has always been in England, especially since the introduction of the silvered-glass speculum, since its cheapness, in comparison with refractors of cor responding aperture, makes it, in one sense, preeminently the amateur's telescope.
