A fairy tale in which a poor miller, hoping to gain wealth from the king, tells the king that his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king has the daughter locked in a room filled with straw and tells her she will be executed unless she can turn it into gold. The girl doesn't know what to do, and an imp suddenly appears saying that he can perform the task, which he does. In return he receives the girl's necklace. But the king continues to request more and more straw be turned into gold. The imp complies, but at last has the girl promise her firstborn child as payment for his services. And then...
