Written by Edward E. “Doc” Smith, PhD. Spacehounds of IPC is a standalone spacenovel that stands in contrast to the manyworks that the famous sciencefiction author is known for–such as the Lensmanseries and Skylark.Another impressively well-written and detailed spacefaring adventure,Spacehounds is quite understandably considered one of “Doc” Smith's most significant works, expanding on a detailed sci-fi universe that will captivate you rightfrom the very firstwords you read of this book. The plot presents the large spaceship Arcturus, as it transports famed physicist Dr. Stevens and his betrothed on a routine trip to Mars. Attacked by Jovian aliens on the way to Mars, the spaceship is then towed toward Jupiter, and Stevens is forced to flee together with his beloved to the cold and inhospitable moon of Ganymede, where they are forced to reconstruct a ragged version of modern civilization from the ground up in order to survive and hope to return home. Spacehounds of IPC explores the intrigues and epic plots of space travel in a manner worthy of modern day novels and sci-fi shows in an age far preceding that of the most well-known and loved sci-fi publications and productions we are familiar today. Since Smith's work has been the basis of inspiration for many of those production, however, it is no surprise that this novel has enjoyed so much popularity over the past few decades. With an engaging plot driven by believable characters who constantly learn and shift with the changes presented by the story line's various circumstances, you'll find this book to be extremely dynamic and engaging, offering the best in fast paced sci-fi action that you can expect. Rich with dated social commentary, unique unexpected plot twists and funny anachronisms, Spacehounds will definitely not fail to entertain you, and whether you're looking for a light, enjoyable read or you're a real sci-fi buff, it will deliver the reading experience you expect.
