The Natural World: Through the Eyes of Artists
Wendy Richardson
Paperback
(Childrens Pr, April 1, 1991)
This series aims to give the reader an opportunity to explore the world through the eyes of "picture-makers", showing that pictures are a major means by which humans have expressed their understanding of the world, their hopes and aspirations, fears and beliefs, fantasies and dreams. It also seeks to encourage children to practice, think about and express themselves through drawing and painting, and the books give details about techniques, materials and styles which will enable them to have confidence in their abilities. Each book contains about 20 colour reproductions, and comment is made on the formal, symbolic, thematic, technical and contextual elements of the paintings.
