Amelia Earhart took her first airplane ride in 1920. From that moment on, she knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life flying. Amelia achieved things that no other woman had done before. She flew higher, breaking altitude records. She flew farther, becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. She flew faster, breaking aircraft speed records. Amelia s efforts opened many doors for women pilots around the world. Because she followed her dreams, many others have been able to do the same with their lives. Amelia Earhart was truly a pioneer in aviation.
