Okay, okay! Dave Dawson growled, and rolled over to a more comfortable position in the hotel bed. "It’s dear old England. A wonderful country, a great place. And you're tickled silly to be here. Okay, I agree with every word you say. God save the King, and there'll always be an England. Now, will you let a guy get some sleep?" "But you don't understand what it means to me, Dave." Freddy Farmer spoke through the darkness from the other bed. "This is my native land, my home, and I've—" "Gone completely screwy!" Dawson snapped. "Sweet tripe! You were here only two days ago. Two days you've been away, and you're sounding off as though you'd been away for a million years. Just a two day jaunt over to France, and the guy starts flag waving. My pal, much as I like you, you are a pain in seventeen different places at the same time. Go to sleep, you bow-legged Commando!" "Just what I've said quite often," Freddy said placidly. "It takes an Englishman to really appreciate his homeland. Two years or two days, what does it matter? The joy that is his upon arriving back home is always the same. Do you see what I mean, Dave?" Dawson groaned, sat up in bed, and switched on the table lamp. But as he did so he took a quick automatic glance at the room windows to make sure that the blackout curtains were drawn and securely fastened. Then he hunched around in bed and glared at his closest and dearest friend in the world.

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Feb. 28, 2016)
The Dave Dawson War Adventure Series encompasses 15 novels about young Dave Dawson, just our of high school and following his father to Europe at the start of the conflict that would become World War 2. After befriending a young English lad, Freddy Farmer, the two teens find themselves fighting along side the brave British troops determined to keep the Nazis from ever setting foot on English soil. Through the series they do not age but do travel around a lot taking part in such operations ad Dunkirk, Guadalcanal and Truk Island. They distinguish themselves as they fly and shoot down the enemy whether they are on European soil, in the Pacific or even at home where Nazi infiltrators are bent on wrecking havoc. The two lads make a name for themselves, form an unbreakable friendship, and fight against the odds. overcoming them at the very last moment. As with many series for young boys, the themes are built around patriotism and bravery, friendship and loyalty. And, while some of the references might seem rude or racist, they were products of the time in which they were authored. That author, Robert Sidney Bowen, was an American teenager when he flew for the Royal Air Force during World War 1. He became a journalist and author starting at the end of the war in England and later in Chicago. He was responsible for at least three series of adventures for boys plus numerous individual books built around his love of sports. He was active from 1930 (at the age of 20) until his final book, Hot Rod Doom, in 1973, just six years before his death. Millions of his books were sold when first published or republished and some are still available today as used books and as new publications, however many of these new releases have been edited for spelling mistakes and errors in typesetting, plus many do not include any of the original cover art. Thackery Fox & Associates is proud to offer these low-cost editions using scanned text mostly from first editions that—for historical reasons—include all the typesetting mistakes and strange spellings of the day that seem wrong to us now.

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, July 23, 2015)
About the Book The Jin state was formed in southern Korea in the 3rd century BC. During the Goryeo period, laws were codified, a civil service system was introduced, and Buddhist influenced culture flourished, but Mongol invasions in the 13th century brought Goryeo under its influence. In 1392, General Yi Seong-gye established the Joseon dynasty, which lasted to 1910. By the mid 19th century Joseon Korea was forced to sign unequal treaties with foreign powers. In 1905, the Korean Empire signed a protectorate treaty with Japan, which in 1910 annexed it. After WW2 the Allies divided the country, and in 1948, when the powers failed to agree on the formation of a single government, the peninsula was divided at the 38th Parallel. The new premier of Soviet/China-backed North Korea, Kim il-Sung, launched the Korean War in 1950. This division has continued to the present day. Also in this Book Titles from Russian drama reflect the movement towards realism, which began sooner than anywhere else. The Moscow Art Theatre, 1898, led reform of a Russian theater hitherto dominated by melodrama, to one where high-quality drama was made available to the public. That year the theater opened Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. In the early part of the 20th century, Russia experienced a cultural Silver Age, with a significant number of theaters offering realistic or naturalistic theater. After the Russian Revolution, many theater artists left Russia for other countries. And in this Book Russian poetry experienced a Golden Age in the first half of the 19th century, and is often called the Age of Pushkin, after its most significant poet. Mikhail Lermontov and Fyodor Tyutchev were considered the most important Romantic poets after Pushkin, while Vasily Zhukovsky and Konstantin Batyushkov are considered his finest precursors. The Ukrainian language poetry of Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861) had a profound effect on the re-birth of the language and national consciousness, as the Ukrainian language had suffered persecution under the Russian Empire. Other outstanding Ukkrainian poets included Ivan Franko (1856-1916), who wrote in western Ukraine under Austria-Hungary, and Lesya Ukrainka (1871-1913).About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages.
