In the small Dutch village of Urk, Holland, murder is unbelievable-three murders are inconceivable. Two young American schoolteachers-Dane Jansen and Jenae Christianson-travel abroad for the summer. Dane is in search of information about her Dutch birth mother with only one clue to assist her-a Dutch birth token, which gives an inkling as to her past identity. Hoping to travel the continent during their summer vacation, the two young ladies start their expedition in Holland, and because of a turn of events, they decide to stay and work in that beautiful country full of tulips, windmills, and wooden shoes. Thinking that they can travel to other fascinating European cities during the weekends, their plans are soon severed. As the plot thickens, the two become hopelessly entangled in a web of enigmatic mysteries and murders, spinning suspense throughout the novel.
