Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Aug. 13, 2015)
The musicians were tuning their instruments somewhere behind the palms in the hotel courtyard. It was one of the older hotels of San Antonio, much sought by Northern tourists on account of that same inner garden, around which the big building stretched itself. The rooms opening on to it had vine-covered balconies, and, looking down from them into the tropical growth of palms and banana trees and roses, one felt that it was summer time, no matter what the calendar said.

Annie Johnston, Ellen Merrill, Frank Merrill

Paperback (Firebird Press, April 30, 1999)
"Two girls . . . came out under the bunting-draped arch and strolled along past the banana trees to the garden seat just below her. From her hiding place behind the moon-vines, Mary watched them as only a sociable little soul could watch, who for months had been hungering for such companionship. She clutched the railing with both hands, hoping fervently that they would stop." -from Chapter 1As Mary Ware visits the bustling cities of Texas for the first time, she experiences the challenges of urban life and new social situations. Mary comes to better understand human emotions and impulses and also begins to better understand herself and her own inner strength.Annie Johnston's books featuring Mary Ware are a spin-off from her beloved Little Colonel Series, a collection of semi-biographical books about a young lady named Hattie Cocharn. Though published more than one hundred years ago, Johnston's works are still celebrated for their lasting impact on generations of young women.

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, March 27, 2015)
About the Book Military history texts discuss the historical record of armed conflict in the history of humanity, its impact on people, societies, and their cultures. Some fundamental subjects of military history study are the causes of war, its social and cultural foundations, military doctrines, logistics, leadership, technology, strategy, and tactics used, and how these have developed over time. Thematic divisions of military history may include: Ancient warfare, Medieval warfare, Gunpowder warfare, Industrial warfare, and Modern warfare. Also in this Book Military strategy texts present ideas for military organizations to achieve their desired strategic goals. Military strategy discusses the planning and conduct of campaigns, the movement and disposition of forces, and how to deceive the enemy. Carl von Clausewitz (1780–1831), defined military strategy as "the employment of battles to gain the end of war." B. H. Liddell Hart defined strategy as "the art of distributing and applying military means to fulfill the ends of policy", which places more emphasis on political aims relative to military goals. Sun Tzu (544-496 BC) is the father of Eastern military strategy and greatly influenced Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese war tactics. His book The Art of War has been very popular and has seen practical implementation in Western societies. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages.
