Other editions of book The Legend of the American Rabbit

The American Rabbit began as a painting by Stewart Moskowitz which became a popular poster. Several years later, this children's story was published as part of a set of four books. It was written by Stewart and describes the origin of the unusual star-spangled rabbit. When The American Rabbit later appeared in a feature length movie, his origin story was entirely different (the movie script was not written by Stewart). The image of The American Rabbit was so strongly associated with Stewart Moskowitz that he eventually became the artist's trademark.
