    W. M. Thackeray

Hardcover (Forgotten Books, Feb. 20, 2018)
Excerpt from The Adventures of Philip on His Way Through the World, Vol. 1 of 2: Shewing Who Robbed Him, Who Helped Him, and Who Passed Him By; To Which Is Now Prefixed a Shabby Genteel StoryThere is an autobiographical interest in philip, indi cated by Thackeray's statement to Mr. George Smith that the hero in certain numbers will, entre now, take pretty much the career of W. M. T. In the first years of his min and absurdly imprudent marriage; but the statement must be taken in a very general sense. Cer tain of the Paris passages are frankly reminiscent; and if such a one as the capital scene in the British Embassy does not repeat actual experience, it probably comes very close to that of the W. M. T. Of those days.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
