We teach our children about Santa Claus, leading them to believe Santa is an overweight, jolly old man with white hair and a bushy white beard who lives in the North Pole and magically travels the entire world on Christmas Eve with his sleigh and reindeer. He then slides down our chimneys with a bag full of wonderful gifts the children asked for in their “Dear Santa” letters. Who are you REALLY, Santa is a “Dear Santa” letter that takes you through the memories of a woman as she recollects the many years of disappointment she felt during the Christmas season - from her childhood of poverty to her times as a single parent faced with financial struggles. Why did others have such wonderful Christmases filled with everything they wanted while she didn't? Through her reflections on her life, she gains a new understanding of Christmas and who Santa really is. The letter will tug at your heartstrings while bringing you a new perspective of Santa and the Christmas season. The author, Catherine M. White, lives near Seattle, WA with her four children, two dogs, and a cat. Having grown up with little for material possessions she gained a sense of compassion for others who had less. It has been her goal to teach her children the spirit of giving during the Christmas season and is on a mission to spread that same spirit around the world - not just at Christmas time, but all throughout the year.
