  • Where Is It?

    Vernell Edwards

eBook (RoseDog Books, Sept. 6, 2018)
Where Is It?By: Vernell EdwardsVernell Edward’s daughter, Valneisha, was given her favorite stuffed animal at age two. She loved to hold it while being read to anytime during the day. It quickly became her greatest comfort in times of stress. She carried it everywhere she could. She slept with it every night until she went away to college. When Valneisha attended Morgan State University, her stuffed animal was left on her bed until she arrived back home during her school breaks. She never fell out of love with her stuffed rabbit, but she did learn to cope with stressful times without it. Her stuffed animal became a loving memory throughout her life.About the AuthorVernell Edwards resides in Baltimore, Maryland, with her husband. The story Where Is It? was written in 2006 for a literacy class at Towson University in Towson, Maryland. During Edwards’ studies to become an Early Childhood teacher, an assignment was given to complete a children’s book about any subject that might interest a young child. Thinking about her daughter at a young age, Edwards remembered her favorite stuffed animal and thought this would make a great story. Over many years of teaching in Baltimore City, Edwards has found that if students enjoy a story, they will put forth effort to dig deeper into the story’s meaning.
