Stories and Verses for Children is an illustrated New Church (Swedenborgian) children's book originally published anonymously in 1850 in Boston, Massachusetts, by Otis Clapp. This edition, though re-typeset, closely matches the original in page and line layout. It includes black-and-white scans of the original illustrations. Contents: The Obedient Boys; Mount Vernon; The Little Voices; Poem: Tell Me Of My Mother; Emigrants Encamping for the Night; The Use of Flowers; Peep Oh!; Good and Evil Animals; Poem: Child's Evening Hymn. This book was originally published together with Jessie and Other Stories for Young People and The Obedient Boys and Other Stories for Young People.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
