This tale is Volume I of a aseries of four volumes under the title Tales from Ancient Egypt. It tells a story within another story, one in the past and one in the time of the tale. It presents continuous acts of magic by two rival scribes-one dead, the other alive-fighting over the Magic Book of Thot, God of Knowledge and Wisdom. When the living scribe: Satni-Khamois seizes the Magic Book from the tomb of the dead scribe: Nenofer-Keptah, the latter does everything he could to bring back the coveted book, even transforming himself into a beautiful woman, who charms Satni to the point of making him give her all his possessions, and allow her to have his children murdered. Tension continues to rise as the story unfolds. It is addressed to children 14-15 years old.
