Have you ever been listening to a story being told when suddenly a movie projector appears out of nowhere and a film reel begins to play? Welcome to Sonny's life. After meeting his grandfather, Pops, the two go to a spot where magic happens. Following the take over of the pigeons' dock by a bunch of bully gulls, Pops was the only bird foolishly brave enough to stand up to the flock. With Pops at the director’s helm, he introduces Sonny to some of the most colorful birds any pigeon could ever want to know and we're not talking feathers here. "We enjoyed your style and the layered storytelling.”-The editors at Boyds Mills Press (creators of Highlights) “ See what's going on down at the docks. You'll laugh, maybe even cry, if you’re like some of the pigeons in this book.

Indeed, Mr. McCrea had "coached" her son in mathematics, and had been most helpful in securing the appointment. And now here was the quartermaster on leave of absence, the first he had had in years, spending several weeks of his three months' rest at the scene of his own soldier school-days.But it was "Bud," her younger son, who had come rushing down to the surgeon's quarters only a few minutes before parade with the all-important news. "Mither!--Geordie!" he cried, "Captain Cross says the assignment order's come and will be published at parade. Hurry up!"Dr. Graham could hardly believe it. As McCrea said, the War Department seldom issued the order before mid-July.
