These are the untold stories of those brave people from around the world that left their home country with their own traditions, culture and language and came here to the United States with hopes of a new life of prosperity, freedom, fairness and liberty for all. People come here to flee from war, flee from religious, cultural and ethnic persecution. Or they come here for a dream of prosperity through hard work, persistence and ingenuity. And it is sometimes all of the above.Each person’s story is written in their own words and from their own perspective - 5 stories of refugees and immigrants that came from the former Soviet Union, Ukraine, Eritrea and Syria. This is how each of us has experienced life – first in our own home country and later here in the United States and ultimately we made it all here to San Diego, California.How did each of us manage to leave our home country? Was it an escape? Did we have to go through different countries to come here? What was each person's life like in their home country and how is it now?
